Letsencrypt Wildcard SSL for GoDaddy Free Wildcard SSL Certificate

I will show you how to get a Letsencrypt wildcard SSL certificate for free that you can use on GoDaddy or any other web hosting. Buy me a coffee ☕

We are going to use a simple online tool that will check that you own the domain with DNS and it will generate a certificate for us.

This will secure your website and get rid of those warnings and get you https URL in 15 minutes.

I’ll be using Godaddy, but this free wildcard SSL certificate will work on any web hosting with cPanel. In addition, I will show you how to always redirect users from http to https using just a few lines of code, so that they can always see the secured site.

If you get tired of renewing the wildcard SSL certificate every 90 days, then you can buy it from Namecheap for about $39/year and you only need to renew it once a year.
Here is how to do that:

Summary of how to generate letsencrypt wildcard SSL:
1. Go to
2. Enter your domain name & verify that you own the domain.
3. Use the DNS Manager to create TXT entries with correct values.
4. Generate the SSL certificate.
5. Add below code to your .htaccess file for http to https URL redirections
6. Updated the SSL certificate every 90 days and you have free SSL on your site!

RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{HTTPS} off

Remember to update the SSL certificate every 90 days, I just use my google calendar to remind me about it, it takes me about 5-10 minutes to renew the SSL certificate.

  1. HI, I am looking to build a tool exactly like this for my client. Can you please help me with the API's that you have used?

  2. In order to fix CORS, you need to make sure that the API is sending proper headers (Access-Control-Allow-*). That's why it's not something you can fix in the UI, and that's why it only causes an issue in the browser and not via curl: because it's the browser that checks and eventually blocks the calls

  3. Access to XMLHttpRequest at 'https://app-directory.s3.amazonaws.com/hootlet/launched-app-directory-apps.json' from origin 'https://punchsalad.com' has been blocked by CORS policy: No 'Access-Control-Allow-Origin' header is present on the requested resource.
app-directory.s3.amazonaws.com/hootlet/launched-app-directory-apps.json:1 Failed to load resource: net::ERR_FAILED

  4. i followed the directions in this video and when i click to create the ssl it brings up a page with a blank rectangle on the generator page. help plz!

  7. master thank you very much for the tutorial !!

I have a query, I am already implementing a platform that to use my fqdn asks me to select the path of your Certificate file (only .pem, .crt or .pfx)

How can I migrate this certificate to ".pem", ".crt" or ".pfx"?

Is this possible or are they different things?

    Thank you very much again!
